Congratulations to my student Tyson Brady for winning the Virginia State Scholastic Championship! I first met Tyson through the Hampton Roads Scholastic Chess Club, where I began coaching him through group classes. I was lucky enough to watch Tyson's strength and dedication in chess grow for a year before his parents reached out for private lessons. Since I initially began coaching him, Tyson has gone on to gain 382 USCF rating points, take 3rd in the Virginia State Scholastic K-8 championship in 2020, and will now go on to represent Virginia in the 37th Annual GM Arnold Denker National Tournament of High School State Championship July 31st - August 3rd as a freshman. Tyson has worked very hard for this and I am so proud to have the opportunity to watch him improve.
Go Tyson
